You’ll begin the full-day tour with a visit to Isa Bey Mosque, one of the most spectacular examples of Anatolian architecture. Head into the ancient city of Ephesus, and take a guided walk to the Celsus Library, the Temple of Hadrian, and the Trajan Fountain.

Explore the historical marble street, and stop at the Great Theater, where St. Paul preached.

Lunch will be an open buffet at a local Turkish restaurant. Afterwards you’ll visit a carpet cooperative to see how the Turkish carpets are made by hand.

See the shrine of the Virgin Mary, at the site where it is believed she lived her final years. In the late afternoon you’ll visit the Temple Of Artemis (Diana), on the site of one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.

What to Remember

Participants must be able to walk approximately 1.5 miles over uneven and cobblestoned surfaces, and up and down inclines and 10-30 steps. Comfortable shoes, a hat, and plenty of sunscreen are recommended, as shade is limited. Guests should watch their step at all times in order to avoid injuries.

Day 1: Arrival in Istanbul
On arrival at the Istanbul airport you’ll be transferred to your city hotel. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2: Istanbul Full-Day Tour (B, L)
Tour the Sultan Ahmet area in the heart of the Old City, from where the Byzantine and Ottoman empires were ruled. Visit Hagia Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of architecture, constructed as a basilica in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian. Admire the Blue Mosque, facing Hagia Sophia, famous for its blue Iznik tiles and its 6 minarets.

See the Hippodrome, the ancient center of sporting events and political activities. Take in the Obelisk of Theodosius, the Serpentine Column, and the German Fountain of Wilhelm II. Explore the covered Grand Bazaar, the biggest souk in the world with nearly 4,000 shops selling antiques, jewelry, gold, carpets, leatherwear, and souvenirs. Tour Topkapi Palace, the residence of Ottoman sultans, and see exhibits of Chinese porcelain, weapons, calligraphy, and more.

Day 3: Gallipoli and Canakkale (B, L, D)
Depart early in the morning for Canakkale. You’ll stop for lunch in Eceabat before visiting Gallipoli. See the Kabatepe War Museum, Brighton Beach, Anzac Cove, Ariburnu Cemetery, the Anzac Commemoration Site, the Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Johnston's Jolly, the Nek, and Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial. Overnight in Canakkale.

Day 4: Troy, Pergamon, and Kusadasi (B, L, D)
After breakfast you’ll explore the famous archaeological and mythological site of Troy, home of the Trojan Horse and Helen of Troy. Then you’ll continue on to the city of Pergamon, an important center in the Hellenistic and Roman eras. Overnight in Kusadasi.

Day 5: Kusadasi and Ancient Ephesus (B, L, D)
Your tour begins at Isa Bey Mosque before the drive to Ephesus, an ancient Greek city and later a major Roman city, situated on the west coast of Asia Minor. See the Celsus Library, the Temple Of Hadrian, and the Trajan Fountain.

Enjoy an open buffet lunch at a local Turkish restaurant, and then in the afternoon visit a carpet cooperative to see how Turkish carpets are made by hand. Continue to the shrine of the Virgin Mary, at the site where she spent the final years of her life. Explore the Ephesus Archeological Museum to see artifacts from local excavations and take in the Temple Of Artemis (Diana).

Before returning to your hotel you’ll see a fashion show at the leather outlet center. Overnight in Kusadasi.

Day 6: Hierapolis (B, L)
Visit Hierapolis, noted for its healing thermal waters and mineral baths, and marvel at the beautiful snow-white petrified waterfalls. Tour the ruins of the ancient city, and see the magnificently preserved necropolis, the main street and gates, and the thermal baths. This is the end of the day’s tour or you can opt for the Silk Road extension.

Day 7: Pamukkale, Konya, and Cappadocia (L, D)
You’ll travel from Pamukkale to Cappadocia by way of Konya, where you’ll stop to visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana, the great mystic poet and Islamic spiritual leader who founded the Whirling Dervishes sect. See the 13th-century Seljuk caravanserai known as Sultanhan in Konya as well.

Drive to Cappadocia, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 8: Cappadocia (B, L, D)
Your first real encounter with the other-worldly Cappadocia landscape is in the Devrent Valley. Visit the fairy chimneys in Pasabag, where the voice of the wind harmonizes with the songs of the fairies. Afterwards you’ll stop in Avanos, the center of terracotta art.

After lunch you’ll visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum to see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia. The tour finishes at the Uchisar Rock Castle, where you’ll have a panoramic view of the valleys. Stop at a carpet cooperative to see how Turkish carpets are made by hand.

Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 9: Cappadocia
From your hotel you’ll head to the Red Valley, where you’ll see the famous rock-cut churches and enjoy a 5-kilometer hike through the Gulludere Valley. Before lunch you’ll also visit Cavusin village.

After your lunch break the tour continues on to the Pigeon Valley. Stop at Kaymakli Underground City, where early Christians lived in fear and faith in one of the most interesting underground settlements in Cappadocia. The underground city was originally carved out as 8 floors, but only 4 floors can be visited today. The tunnels are still in use as storage areas, stables, and cellars.

On the way back to Cappadocia you’ll stop to see the natural castle at Ortahisar.

Day 10: Return to Istanbul (B)
You’ll have free time until the transfer to the airport or the optional Istanbul extension.

Day 1: Arrival
Arrive at the airport in Istanbul and transfer to the hotel. Stay overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2: Istanbul Full-Day Tour

See the Blue Mosque facing Hagia Sophia, famous for its blue Iznik tiles and unique with 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet. Visit the Hippodrome, the center of sports events (chariot races, athletics) and political activities of the old city. The Obelisk of Theodosius, the Serpentine Column, and the German Fountain of Wilhelm II are a few of the monuments decorating the hippodrome. Visit the Grand Covered Bazaar, the most attractive shopping center and biggest souk (market) in the world. You also see the Topkapi Palace, the imperial residence of Ottoman sultans exhibiting Chinese porcelain, weapons, and calligraphy.

Day 3: Istanbul – Izmir – Ephesus – Kusadasi
Take an early morning flight to Izmir. Tour Isa Bey Mosque before driving to the ancient city of Ephesus. Stroll past the Celsus Library, the Temple of Hadrian, and the Trajan Fountain in Ephesus. After walking on the historical marble street, you’ll reach the Great Theater where Saint Paul preached. Enjoy an open buffet lunch at a local Turkish restaurant. In the afternoon you visit the carpet corporative to see how Turkish carpets are made by hand. Move on to the shrine of Mother Mary, where it is believed she spent several years of her life. Visit Ephesus Archaeological Museum to see findings of excavations as well as the Temple of Artemis. You then enjoy a fashion show in a leather outlet center. Stay overnight in Kusadasi.

Day 4: Pamukkale
Visit Pamukkale, famous for its healing thermal/mineral baths and beautiful snow-white “petrified waterfalls”. After lunch, visit Hierapolis including the magnificently preserved Necropolis, the main street and gates, the thermal baths, and masterpiece. You then take the bus to Fethiye, where you stay overnight.

Day 5: Blue Cruise Fethiye to Olympos
Depart from Fethiye Harbor between 11:00 and 12:00 and head to Samanlik Bay or, depending on the sea conditions, to Butterfly Valley for swimming and lunch. You can enjoy an optional visit to this natural reserve hosting 136 different kinds of butterflies and moths. Afterwards you cruise to Oludeniz (the Blue Lagoon), again sea conditions permitting. The option for paragliding is also available. The last stop of the day is at St. Nicholas Island, where you can visit the Byzantine ruins, swim, and enjoy dinner.

Day 6: Blue Cruise Fethiye to Olympos
Depart to the Aquarium of Firnaz Bay near Kalkan around sunrise for breakfast and swimming. Cruise to Kas where you stop in the harbor for lunch and enjoy a visit of this charming fishing village. Kas was once known as ancient Antiphellos, and now only Lycian rock tombs, sarcophagi, and the Roman theatre remain. Enjoy the charm of the town in a bay near Kekova, where you stop for swimming and dinner.

Day 7: Blue Cruise Fethiye to Olympos
Depart to the sunken city of Kekova, where you can look at the protected Lycian-Roman archeological site. Enjoy lunch in Simena, a traditional Turkish fishing village with a Byzantine/Ottoman castle. Optional water sports are available in Gokkaya Bay. Enjoy dinner in the evening and relax in this pirates’s haven, or party the night away at the Smugglers Inn.

Day 8: Blue Cruise Fethiye to Olympos
After breakfast, check out the Pirates Cave (sea conditions permitting) before cruising to Andriace Harbor for lunch. Take a bus transfer to the archaeological site of Myra as well as to Demre to visit St. Nicholas Church. You can go shopping when requested by your group. Then take a bus transfer to the treehouses in Olympos, where you arrive between 16:00 and 18:00.

Day 9: Olympos to Antalya
Enjoy a free day in Olympos, where you have the option of relaxing on the beach. Take a bus to Antalya in the evening, where you end the tour or add on the Cappadocia or Istanbul extension.

DAY 3 - PAMUKKALE - CAPPADOCIA

The day is a "transaction day" because of the long distance between Pamukkale to Cappadocia through Konya with several stops such as visit Mevlana's Mausoleum, the great mystic poet and Islamic spiritual leader, who founded the sect of ''Whirling Dervishes'' AND visit 13th century Seljuk caravanserai "Sultanhan" in Konya. Lunch on the way to Cappadocia. Drive to the hotel in Cappadocia. Driving Distance approx. eight hours (B, L, D)

DAY 4 - CAPPADOCIA

Our first real encounter with Cappadocia almost Martian landscape is in the Dervent valley. We visit Pasabag's "fairy chimneys", where the voice of the wind harmonizes with songs of the fairies. From here we pause at Avanos center of terracotta art. A visit ceramic &tile center to see how the ceramics are made by hand. After lunch we visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum to see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia. Completing the tour with a visit to the Uchisar Rock-Castle to give you a panoramic view of the valleys of Cappadocia. Overnight in Cappadocia. (B, L, D)

DAY 5 - CAPPADOCIA

Depart from your hotel to visit Red valley and explore the famous rock- cut churches and hike 5 km through the Gulludere valley. Then visit Cavusin village. Old Cavusin was abandoned several decades ago due to avalanches. The current village of Cavusin is located on the road. Old Cavusin, with its rock-cut dwellings and stone houses, had several hermitages. After lunch drive to the Pigeon Valley. In the afternoon visit Kaymakli Underground City, where early Christians lived in fear and faith. The houses in the village are constructed around the nearly one hundred tunnels of the underground city, which is one of the most interesting underground settlements in Cappadocia.
